On 7 October 2026, ICANN published the list of applications received in the New gTLD Program: 2026 Round. The publication reveals the applied-for primary strings and applying entities, together with any applicable variant or replacement strings, a list of contention sets, and public portions of each application.
The application submission window ran from 30 April to 12 August 2026. The Reveal Day data snapshot includes 1,615 applications, including 333 brand applications, 16 community-based applications, 15 self-identified geographic name applications, and 51 applications submitted by Applicant Support Program applicants.
The published data also includes 16 applications from Africa, 218 from Asia/Australia/Pacific, 506 from Europe, 11 from Latin America and the Caribbean, and 864 from North America. There are 21 applications for Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) and 9 applications for variants.
ICANN notes that this snapshot reflects primary string application data as of 7 October 2026. The final number and types of applications will be confirmed on String Confirmation Day, 17 November 2026.
Key milestones following Reveal Day.
Applicants with an eligible second-choice or replacement string may elect to switch from their primary applied-for string during this two-week period.
ICANN will publish the final list of applied-for gTLD strings and an updated list of contention sets.
The ICANN community and public will have opportunities to provide feedback through application comments, Governmental Advisory Committee Early Warnings, notifications and objections.
The Prioritization Draw is expected to take place in the first half of 2027, following the String Evaluation Stage.
Reveal Day is a major milestone in the 2026 Round because it makes the applied-for strings and applicant information public. Publication of an application does not mean that the application has passed ICANN evaluation or that a string will ultimately be delegated.
